Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this book, Home Game, by this Odette Stone gal. Now, I ain’t no fancy book reader, ya hear? But this one, well, it kept me up past my bedtime, and that’s sayin’ somethin’!
So, it’s about this gal, Zoey. Poor thing, she’s homeless. Don’t got a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of, ya know? Life’s dealt her a bad hand. And then there’s this fella, Ryan. He’s a hockey player, a real big shot, plays for the Vancouver Wolves. Big strong fella, I bet.
Now, the story, it ain’t all sunshine and roses, lemme tell ya. Zoey’s just tryin’ to make it, day by day. Scrapin’ by, ya know? And Ryan, he’s got his own troubles. New team, gotta prove himself. Tough stuff, real tough.
- Zoey’s got no money.
- Ryan’s got the pressure of hockey.
- They meet, and things get interestin’.
See, it’s what they call a “sports romance.” That means there’s gonna be some mushy stuff, some lovey-dovey things happenin’. But it ain’t all sappy, no sir. There’s some real grit to it. Zoey, she ain’t waitin’ around for no prince charming. She’s got spunk, that girl. And Ryan, he ain’t just some dumb jock. He’s got a good heart, even if he don’t always show it.
The book, it’s kinda like watchin’ a hockey game, ya know? Fast-paced, lots of action. And some good hits too, if ya catch my drift. They say it’s a “quick and dirty read.” Well, I don’t know ’bout the dirty part, but it sure did go by fast. I was hooked from the get-go.
Now, someone told me there ain’t much “spicy stuff” till the end. Spicy stuff, ha! I guess that means the kissin’ and huggin’ and such. But even without all that, it’s a good story. It’s about two people findin’ each other, helpin’ each other. And that’s somethin’ we all need, ain’t it?
I heard there’s even an audiobook, someone readin’ the story out loud. That Madeleine Dauer and Alex Kydd, they must be somethin’ else. But me, I like readin’ it myself. Makes it feel more real, ya know? Like I’m right there with Zoey and Ryan, watchin’ their story unfold.
This Odette Stone, she knows how to write a story, that’s for sure. She makes ya care about these folks. Makes ya wanna see ’em happy. And that’s the best kinda story, ain’t it? One that makes ya feel somethin’. This Home Game, it’s a keeper, that’s what it is.
It’s part of a series, somethin’ ’bout Vancouver Wolves Hockey. This one’s Book 2, they say. Makes ya wonder what happened in Book 1, huh? Maybe I’ll have to go find that one too. But this Home Game, it stands on its own just fine. You don’t gotta read the first one to understand what’s goin’ on.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good story, somethin’ to keep you entertained, give this Home Game a try. It ain’t highfalutin literature or nothin’, but it’s got heart. And sometimes, that’s all ya need. A good story, a warm cup of tea, and a cozy chair. That’s my kinda evenin’. And this book, well, it fits right in.
And lemme tell ya, this Ryan fella, he’s got mature themes, they say. That probably means he ain’t always a saint, ya know? But that’s what makes him interestin’. Nobody’s perfect, not even hockey players. And Zoey, she ain’t perfect either. But they’re perfect for each other, or at least that’s what it seems like. I ain’t gonna spoil the endin’ for ya. You’ll have to read it yourself to find out what happens.
Just remember, it’s a romance, so expect some mushy stuff. But it’s also got sports, so expect some excitement. And it’s got real people, with real problems. So expect to feel somethin’. That’s what a good book does, it makes ya feel. And Home Game, it sure did that for me.
