Alright, let’s talk about this gal, Munoz. I ain’t no golf expert, mind you, just a regular person watchin’ the telly. But this Munoz, she’s somethin’ else. They say she’s from Spain, that Malaga place. Don’t know where that is, but sounds fancy. Heard she’s been playin’ golf since she was a young’un, you know, like those kids who start kickin’ a ball ‘fore they can even walk straight.
This Munoz, she’s been around a while, they say she turned pro in 2009 or maybe 2010, folks can’t seem to agree on that either. Anyways, that’s a long time to be hittin’ that little white ball. She’s 36 now, not a spring chicken anymore, but still swingin’ that club like a champ. I saw her on TV the other day, hittin’ the ball far, real far. Made me think of my old man tryin’ to swat flies with a newspaper – same kinda energy, but, you know, more… graceful.
They got these fancy numbers for her, somethin’ called a “World Ranking.” Hers is 107. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds kinda high though. Maybe it’s like them grades in school, the lower the better? Or maybe it’s the other way around. These golf folks got their own language, I tell ya.
This girl, she went to some university in Arizona, somethin’ with “State” in the name. Smart cookie, I guess. Not just good at hittin’ balls, but got brains too. That’s important, you know. Can’t just be swingin’ clubs all day, gotta use your head too.
Now, they say she’s won some stuff, but ain’t got no record like that Kathy Whitworth lady. That Kathy, she won a whole bunch, 88 times they say! Munoz, well, she’s still tryin’, still out there fightin’. She was close a few times, almost won that Scotland thing, and shot real good in Hawaii, but just couldn’t quite pull it off. But she keep at it! That’s what matters!
- She got married a while back, in 2015, to some fella named Tim Vickers. He’s a money man, works at a bank. Good for her, findin’ a fella who can keep her in golf balls and fancy clubs.
- She is small too. They said on the TV that she’s only 5’5’’. Well that just goes to show you it ain’t the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog.
- And let me tell you, this golf ain’t easy. You gotta have all sorts of stuff. Special bags, special balls, clothes for rain, clothes for sunshine… it’s a whole production! Munoz, she’s got all that, seen pictures of her with her big ol’ golf bag, lookin’ like she’s ready to go campin’ or somethin’.
She’s still playin’ though, saw her on TV just the other day. They were talkin’ about her, sayin’ she shot a good round. So she ain’t done yet. Still got some fight left in her. Good for her, I say. Shows you, age ain’t nothin’ but a number. You just keep on swingin’, keep on tryin’, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll get that win you’re lookin’ for.
So that’s the story on Munoz, as far as I can tell. She’s a golfer, a Spaniard, a wife, and a fighter. And she’s still out there, hittin’ that little white ball and tryin’ to make her mark. Good luck to her, I say. She seems like a nice gal, even if I can’t understand half of what them golf commentators are talkin’ about.
