Okay, so I’ve been getting into this whole soccer thing lately, specifically with the TVCC team. I gotta say, it’s been quite a ride, and I figured I’d share my little journey here. It all started a few months ago when I saw a poster about a soccer camp. “TVCC Soccer Camp,” it said, “Come join us for some soccer fun!” I thought, why not? I’ve always enjoyed kicking a ball around, but I never really took it seriously.
So, I signed up. It wasn’t a big deal, just a free camp. There was this guy, Jimmy Elder, the head coach, who’s apparently a big shot with some championships under his belt. The camp was pretty basic, just getting a feel for the game and meeting some people. I saw some announcement that he had signed some new players.
But then I started digging a bit deeper into TVCC soccer. Turns out, if you want to get on their men’s team, you gotta start making connections early. Like, seriously early. Building relationships and making sure people see you play seems to be the way to go.
I also learned that TVCC has a pretty open admissions process. They accept everyone, which is cool, I guess. Their popular courses are liberal arts, nursing, and surprisingly, cosmetology. Not exactly what I expected from a college with a soccer team.
Anyway, I started following their social media, like this one account called tvcc_soccer. They’re always posting updates and welcoming new players. It seems like they have seven games in their home field, which they call “The Pit”.
- Watched a video of the team talking about their upcoming season at a place called The Sizzle.
- They mentioned a scrimmage game, and I thought, “Hey, I should go check that out.”
My first game
So, I went to the scrimmage. It was… intense. These guys are good. Really good. They are part of NCAA Division 1, and you could tell. They’re super competitive and athletic. Watching them made me realize how much work goes into playing at that level.
After the game, I felt this weird mix of excitement and intimidation. I mean, could I ever get to that level? Probably not. But it did make me want to get better, even just for fun. I started playing more regularly, joining some local pick-up games, and just generally getting more involved in soccer.
It’s been a few weeks since that scrimmage, and I’m still nowhere near the level of those TVCC players. But I’m having fun. I’m learning a lot, and I’m definitely in better shape than I was a few months ago. Who knew a simple poster about a soccer camp could lead to all this?
I guess the main thing I’ve learned so far is that soccer, like anything else, is a journey. There’s always something new to learn, some new challenge to overcome. And whether you’re aiming for the big leagues or just playing for fun, it’s all about enjoying the process and pushing yourself to be a little bit better each day. At least, that’s what this whole TVCC soccer thing has taught me.
