I saw some people playing a game called “glider ball soccer” the other day, and I thought, “Hey, that looks like fun!” So, I decided to give it a shot myself. Let me tell you, it was a blast!
First, I rounded up some friends. I mean, you can’t play soccer by yourself, right? We gathered at the local park, which has a pretty decent field. It’s not professional or anything, but it gets the job done.
Next, we needed a ball. Luckily, I had an old soccer ball lying around in my garage. It was a bit deflated, so we pumped it up. We also grabbed some cones to mark the goals. You could use anything, really – backpacks, water bottles, whatever you have on hand. We just wanted something to define the boundaries.
Set Up and Rules
Then came the fun part – setting up the “gliders.” We didn’t have actual gliders, of course, so we got creative. We decided to use towels, that’s right, those regular towels you use after showering. It’s kind of silly when I say it out loud, but trust me, it works. Each player got a towel, and the idea was to sit on it and use your hands to push yourself around. That’s how you move with the “glider”.
Now, the rules. We kept it simple. Basically, it’s like regular soccer, but you’re sliding around on towels. We agreed no using hands to touch the ball – only feet. And the main goal, like in real soccer, is to kick the ball into the other team’s “goal” (the area between their cones). We played for about an hour, just two halves with a short break in between.
The Game Begins
- Start: We flipped a coin to see who kicked off first.
- Move: We scooted around on our towels, trying to control the ball with our feet. It’s way harder than it looks!
- Pass: We passed the ball to each other, trying to get it down the field.
- Shoot: When someone got close to the goal, they’d try to shoot!
- Score: If the ball went between the cones, it was a goal! We cheered like crazy every time someone scored.
It was hilarious. We were falling over, bumping into each other, and laughing the whole time. It’s definitely a workout, too. My arms were sore the next day from all that pushing!
In the end, I think my team won, but honestly, it didn’t even matter. We all had so much fun. It was a great way to spend an afternoon, get some exercise, and just be silly with my friends. I highly recommend giving glider ball soccer a try – even if you just end up using towels like we did. You won’t regret it! It’s not about being super skilled, but about having fun together.
