Okay, here is my sharing about “mitty soccer” today:
Man, I went down a rabbit hole today checking out the soccer scene at Archbishop Mitty High School. It all started this morning when I was thinking about getting back into shape. Soccer was always my favorite sport, so I figured I’d see what’s up with the local teams.
First off, I hit up the school’s website to see what I could dig up. Turns out, Archbishop Mitty is located at 5000 Mitty Avenue in San Jose. I might just drive by someday to see the fields.
Then I started looking into their teams. They’ve got both boys’ and girls’ soccer, and they both seem pretty legit. The boys’ team, from what I saw, has a solid roster. They’ve got guys like Lars Neunfinger, Samuel Feezor, Alec Grimaldo, and Daniel Medina. I don’t know these players personally, but they must be good to make the varsity team.
The Girls’ Soccer Program is Killer
But the girls’ soccer program? Holy cow, these girls are on another level. They’ve apparently snagged 18 CCS championships! That’s insane! I spent a good chunk of time trying to find out who some of these all-star players are, but there were so many, it made my head spin.
Who’s in Charge Here?
Of course, a good team needs a good leader. It looks like the Director of Athletics is Mr. Brian Eagleson. I guess he’s the one making sure everything runs smoothly.
I got kind of sucked into looking at the whole recruitment scene, too. It’s wild to see how many players from Mitty go on to play in college. I was checking out this FieldLevel page for the women’s soccer team, and it was packed with names of girls who’ve been recruited to different schools. It’s cool to see how this high school program is feeding talent into the college level.
Honestly, I ended up spending way more time on this than I planned. It’s just fascinating to see how much goes into a high school sports program. And it definitely got me fired up to start playing again. Maybe I’ll join a casual league or something. If I do, I’ll be sure to share my experiences. I’m already thinking about the title… maybe “Back on the Pitch” or “Old Man, New Cleats”? We’ll see!
