Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this whole Oklahoma-Florida State football thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride.
First off, I started by just trying to get a handle on the overall history between these two teams. It’s like, where do I even begin, right? I mean, they’ve been playing each other since way back when, like in the ’70s. I pulled up some old records, and it turns out they’ve faced off quite a few times over the years.
Then, I dove into some specific games. I read about that one game in 2010, where Julius Caesar Watts and Billy Sims both rushed for over 100 yards. It is so crazy!
Next, I was curious about the bigger picture, like, how good are these teams overall? I found out that Oklahoma has a bunch of national championships. They’re kind of a big deal in college football.
After that, I went back to looking at Florida State’s perspective. There’s apparently some, uh, not-so-fond memories for Seminoles fans when it comes to playing Oklahoma. They had these Orange Bowl losses, especially the one that ended the 1979 season. Ouch.
I also learned about something called the “Sunshine Showdown.” Apparently, that’s what they call the rivalry between these two teams now. I guess it’s a pretty big deal, and they started playing each other in 1958.
Here is what I learned from these games:
- These teams have played each other a bunch of times, starting back in 1976, and the last one I found was in December.
- Oklahoma is pretty good, with a bunch of national championships.
- Florida State has some rough memories of playing Oklahoma, especially in those Orange Bowl games.
- It’s a big rivalry, now called the “Sunshine Showdown”.
Oh, and I stumbled upon this fact about Florida State going 0-11 in 1973. That must have been a tough season under coach Larry Jones.
So, yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to. It’s been a lot of reading and digging, but it’s pretty interesting to see the history between these two teams.
