Today, I want to share my little adventure in Squirrel Hill, hunting for some good reads. It’s a lovely, tree-lined neighborhood in Pittsburgh, and I heard it’s a haven for book lovers. So, I decided to check it out.
First up, I headed to Riverstone Books. Apparently, it’s their second location in the city. This place is cozy, and I could tell it was going to be a good experience from the moment I stepped inside. They have a pretty good selection of books, new releases, some classics, and everything in between. I spent a good hour there, just browsing through the shelves, picking up a book here and there.
- Riverstone Books – Nice vibe, good selection.
Then, I stumbled upon this other place called White Whale Books & Coffee. Now, a bookstore that also serves coffee? Count me in! I grabbed a latte and started exploring their collection. It’s a bit more curated than Riverstone, which I found interesting. I ended up buying a novel I had been wanting to read. I spent half of time in reading, and half of time in relaxing.
- White Whale Books & Coffee – Coffee and books, a perfect match!
Next, I ventured into Amazing Books & Records. As the name suggests, it’s not just books. They also have a decent collection of records. The place has a more indie vibe, which I liked. I flipped through some old records, reminiscing about the good old days, and also checked out their book selection. It’s more focused on used books, which is great for finding hidden gems.
- Amazing Books & Records – Cool mix of books and records.
I also popped into a couple of other places like The Big Idea Bookstore and Cafe, and Kards Unlimited. The Big Idea is more of an activist, community-focused space with a small but interesting book selection. Kards Unlimited is more of a gift shop, but they also have some books and, as you might guess, lots of cards.
- The Big Idea Bookstore and Cafe – Interesting, community-focused.
- Kards Unlimited – More of a gift shop, but has books and cards.
All in all, I had a great day exploring the bookstores in Squirrel Hill. I discovered some new favorites and added a few books to my ever-growing reading list. If you’re ever in the area and love books, I highly recommend spending an afternoon wandering around Squirrel Hill. You won’t be disappointed!
Squirrel Hill is a book lover’s dream.
By the end of the day, I felt fulfilled, not just from the books I bought, but also from the experience of exploring this charming neighborhood. Each bookstore had its own unique character, and I enjoyed the hunt for my next read. Squirrel Hill truly is a book lover’s dream, and I can’t wait to go back and explore more!
