So, I wanted to throw a baby shower for my best friend, who’s expecting her first little one. I decided to go all out and make it a really special day for her. The first thing I did was to send out the invitations. I kept it simple but cute, with a little stork carrying a baby on each one. I made sure to include all the important details like the date, time, and location.
Next up was the guest book. I know, it sounds kinda old school, but I wanted something physical that my friend could keep and look back on, not just a bunch of messages lost in the digital ether. I was browsing online for a while, and yeah, there were some cute options on there, but I wanted something more unique, you know? I hit up a few stores, like the local Hallmark and even Walmart, but nothing really caught my eye. Finally, I went to Michaels, and bingo! I found this adorable plain scrapbook that was just perfect. I grabbed some baby-themed stickers, colored pens, and other crafty bits to decorate it with.
Now, for the fun part – the food! I wanted a good mix of things that were both tasty and looked cute. I made a tower of cupcakes and stuck little baby-themed toppers on each one. They looked so sweet! I also put together a candy buffet with all sorts of sweets in colors that matched the overall theme of the shower. And because I wanted something a bit more personalized, I baked some cookies and decorated them with the baby’s name – well, the name they’d picked out, anyway. Oh, and drinks! Can’t forget those. I whipped up some fun mocktails and gave them silly baby-themed names. And for those who wanted something simpler, I made a big bowl of fruity punch. It was a hit!
I also thought about the guest list a lot. It’s important to get this right, you know? I invited a good mix of people – some of her older relatives, her close friends, a few of her work buddies, and some of my friends, too. I figured this way, there’d be a good vibe, and everyone would have someone to chat with.
The day of the shower finally arrived, and I was so excited! I spent the morning setting up the decorations, arranging the food, and making sure the guest book station was all set. When my friend walked in, her face just lit up. She was so surprised and happy, it made all the effort totally worth it. Everyone had a blast, and there was so much laughter and love in the room. People wrote the sweetest messages in the guest book. One wrote, “Adventure awaits!” Another wrote, “Wishing you the sweetest of dreams with this bedtime book. Welcome to the family!” I even saw one that said, “Congratulations on the arrival of your baby.” It was just heartwarming to read all the well wishes.
I had also prepared some games to play, one of them involved guessing the baby’s name and then they were given personalized books with the baby’s name on them, they were happy and excited. When it was time for gifts, I had also prepared a little something special for the baby, a book on phonics skills to help with learning letters and sounds. I read about “Super Awesome Big Beautiful Welcome Surprise” and thought it would be a great read for the baby when he’s a little older, to help with big feelings and all.
By the end of the day, I was exhausted but so fulfilled. Seeing my friend so happy and surrounded by love was the best feeling ever. And I knew that the guest book, filled with all those heartfelt messages, would be something she’d treasure forever. We ended up grabbing some food from Revery, this amazing place with local food and craft beers on West Main Street, highly recommend it! It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Throwing this baby shower was definitely a lot of work, but it was also one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. It’s moments like these that really make you appreciate the special people in your life.
