Okay, so, I gotta share this little project I just wrapped up. I’ve been trying to make a map of the Big 12 football stadiums, and let me tell you, it was more of a journey than I expected.
First off, I started by gathering info about where these stadiums even are. It was a mix of old and new ones. I found out that the Big 12 was put together back in ’94, pulling in teams from the old Big Eight and Southwest Conferences. They kicked things off in ’96. Cool, right?
So I went ahead and started to find these places. I looked into some of the team changes, too. Like, Colorado and Nebraska, they bounced from the Big 12. Nebraska was a big deal, too, not that long ago they were in the national championship game! And turns out, they weren’t even the first to leave.
After knowing these basic info about Big 12, I started with listing all the teams in the conference. I managed to dig up all their stadium names and capacities. For example, BYU’s stadium, which used to be called Cougar Stadium, can hold over 63,000 people. That’s a lot of screaming fans!
Then, I started to collect info about these stadiums, like where they were, who played there, and how many people they could hold. BYU’s stadium, for example, is called LaVell Edwards Stadium now, and it’s huge! Built way back in ’64, it can fit over 63,000 people.
After I got all my info down, I started to put it on the map. I found each stadium location and put a marker, along with the team’s name and how many people the stadium can fit. It was pretty cool to see it all come together, all the stadiums spread out across the map.
Finally, after all the marking and double-checking, I had my map. It shows all the Big 12 football stadiums, where they are, and which teams play there. It’s not fancy, but it’s got all the info you need if you’re planning to follow the Big 12 around.
This whole thing, it really showed me how much history and change there is in college football. And it made me appreciate the work that goes into keeping track of all this stuff. Now, I’ve got my map, and I’m ready for some football!
