Okay, so, I’ve been getting into collecting hockey cards lately, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. Today, I wanna share my little adventure with the Trevor Zegras Young Guns card. You know, that guy who did that crazy flip pass? Yeah, his rookie card is something else.
Getting Started
So, I started out like any newbie, just ripping packs open, hoping to find something cool. It’s like a treasure hunt, you know? You never know what you’re gonna get. And then, bam! I pulled a Trevor Zegras Young Guns card. I was so stoked, I couldn’t believe my luck. It was just a base card, nothing fancy, but still, it was a Zegras!
Digging Deeper
After that, I got curious. Like, how much is this thing actually worth? So, I started doing some digging. I found out that there are a bunch of different versions of this card. There’s the base, which is what I had, then there’s this “Clear Cut” version, and even a “Clear Cut Exclusives” one. Man, the rabbit hole goes deep.
- Base Card: This is the standard one, the one most people pull.
- Clear Cut: Apparently, this one is a bit rarer and, yeah, more expensive.
- Clear Cut Exclusives: Okay, this is where it gets crazy. This one is super rare and, from what I saw, worth a decent chunk of change.
The Grading Game
Then there’s this whole grading thing. People send their cards to these companies, like PSA, to get them graded on a scale of 1 to 10. A PSA 10 is like the holy grail, it means the card is in perfect condition. I saw that a Zegras Young Guns base card in PSA 10 was going for around 65 bucks. Not bad, right?
Decisions, Decisions
Now, here’s where I’m at. I have this Zegras card, and I’m thinking, should I get it graded? It looks pretty good to my untrained eye, but what do I know? I saw some people online saying it’s worth getting graded if you think it’ll get an 8 or higher. But then again, it’s also one of my favorite players, so maybe I should just keep it for my personal collection.
The Price
I learned one card, which named Speckled Rainbow Foil Rookie card also in PSA 10 condition and did not change price, was sold, maybe I could buy one, but the price is so expensive for me now.
Oh, and I found out that Zegras was named the NHL Rookie of the Month in December 2021. That’s pretty cool, right? Just adds to the hype around his cards.
Wrapping Up
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with the Trevor Zegras Young Guns card so far. It’s been a fun ride, learning about all the different versions, the grading process, and the market for these things. Whether I decide to get my card graded or not, it’s definitely a cool piece to have in my collection. And hey, who knows, maybe I’ll pull a Clear Cut Exclusives one day! A guy can dream, right?
