Okay, so I wanted to try to predict the outcome of a basketball game. Specifically, I was looking at Richmond games ’cause that’s a team I follow. I’ve got no fancy system, just wanted to see if I could make some educated guesses based on what I could find online.
First, I started looking around for information about upcoming Richmond games. I found some articles talking about games against teams like VMI Keydets, Belmont Bruins, and William & Mary. These articles mentioned the dates of the games and sometimes even had predictions from some computer algorithm, which was kind of cool.
I noticed a few things. One article said a game between Richmond and VMI was predicted to end with a score of 77-70, with Richmond winning. Another one had Richmond beating some other team 81-66. Based on that, I figured Richmond was probably the favorite in these matchups.
- I looked at Richmond’s recent record.
- I compared that to the records of their opponents.
- I tried to guess how many points each team would score.
I also saw that Richmond was averaging around 69.2 points per game. Seemed like a decent number, but not super high. This made me think their games might be relatively close, not huge blowouts.
Now, I’m no expert, but I decided to put together my own little predictions. For the VMI game, I went with something close to that 77-70 score I saw. Maybe 75-72, Richmond winning. For the Belmont game, I figured a bit higher scoring, maybe 80-75, again with Richmond on top. As for the William & Mary game, I went out on a limb and guessed a wider margin, say 83-70 for Richmond.
My Predictions
- Richmond vs. VMI: Richmond wins 75-72
- Richmond vs. Belmont: Richmond wins 80-75
- Richmond vs. William & Mary: Richmond wins 83-70
I wrote down all my predictions and waited for the games to be played. It was fun watching them and seeing how close I got. Some of my scores were pretty off, but I did manage to pick the winner correctly in a couple of games. Not bad for a first try, I guess. I definitely learned a lot and it was kind of interesting to see how these things play out in real life.
Anyway, that’s how I spent a few days messing around with basketball predictions. It wasn’t anything scientific, just a bit of fun. It definitely made watching the games more engaging, and I might even try it again sometime.
