Alright, let’s talk about my little adventure to the Blue 10 Garage in Pittsburgh. I needed to park somewhere close to where I was going and this place popped up. It’s over on the North Shore, right by 20 East General Robinson St. Sounded easy enough, right?
First off, I tried to figure out how long I’d be there. They said it’s best for short-term parking, like if you’re just dropping someone off or picking them up. They charge 4 bucks for every half hour, and it can go up to 36 dollars for the whole day. Ouch, that’s steep if you’re planning on hanging around.
I found out this garage is one of eleven that the city runs. Most of them are right downtown, but this one’s a bit out, near the North Shore. It’s supposed to be handy if you’re heading to the park or something. They even teamed up with Waze to make it easier to find, which is pretty cool.
So, I drove over, and yeah, the location’s pretty good. It’s right there, easy to get to from the highway. I only needed to park for a couple of hours, so I didn’t hit that daily max, thank goodness.
They say parking’s free on Sundays and after 6 PM on other days, which is nice. But I was there on a weekday afternoon, so no luck for me. Paid my fee and went on my way.
They also mention something about a shuttle boat if you’re going to a game or something. 8 bucks one way, 15 round trip. Didn’t need it this time, but it’s good to know.
Oh, and if you’re planning ahead, you can reserve a spot online. They have this thing called ParkMobile where you can tell them when you’ll be there, and they show you the rates. Didn’t do that either, but I guess it could be useful if it’s a busy day.
Here’s the rundown:
- Location: 20 East General Robinson St., Pittsburgh, PA 15212
- Rates: $4.00 per 30 min, $36 daily max
- Good for: Quick stops, dropping off/picking up
- Not so good for: All-day parking unless you’re ready to pay up
- Perks: Free parking on Sundays and after 6 PM, shuttle boat to events, online reservations
All in all, it was a pretty standard parking experience. Nothing too fancy, but it got the job done. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into with those rates before you go.
